I Cor. 15:58– Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
As Christians we should never become so preoccupied that we neglect our service and labour for the Lord. When we step into eternity, the only thing that will matter is what we did with Jesus and what we did for Jesus!
Labouring for Jesus!
John 4:34-35– Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
John 9:4– I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Matt. 9:37-38– Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
*to do a work for Jesus, one must be…
1. Converted!
Matt. 7:21-23– Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
2. Compassionate!
Jude v. 22– And of some have compassion, making a difference:
3. Committed!
Rom. 12:1-2– I BESEECH you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
4. Consistent! -v. 58
5. Concerned!
Ps. 126:5-6– They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
6. Composed! (patient)
7. Calloused! (thick skinned!)
May we ever be found hard at work for Jesus! –Pastor Doug Foster
