Nov. 27 Devotion: Hustle and Bustle

The Hustle and Bustle

Luke 10:40-42 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. [41] And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: [42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

With Thanksgiving over everyone’s attention turns to Christmas. This is the time of year when everyone becomes busier than normal. Family get-togethers, Christmas parties at work, shopping, etc. It’s that time of year where time can easily get away from us. There is nothing wrong with any of those things. However, it is easy to begin to neglect other things as our focus is turned in other directions. This is the time of year when prioritizing our time and making the most of each minute becomes very important. The importance of that is not to spend more time shopping, watching sports, etc. As we get busier it’s important to not allow that to have an impact on the time we spend with the Lord. We should never allow ourselves to get so busy it cuts into our prayer life. Even if it is the time of year we celebrate His birth we shouldn’t allow that to cut into our study time. Regardless of what we have going on it shouldn’t take away from the time we spend with the Lord. You should enjoy this time of year. We have reason to celebrate our Lord! We know the true reason for the season as they say. However, don’t allow the hustle and bustle of the holidays take away from the time you spend with the One we are celebrating!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
