Nov. 3 Devotion: What’s Stopping You?

What’s Stopping You?

1 Kings 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

We all know this verse precedes Elijah praying fire down and all that takes place after this. Do we find ourselves trying to walk that line of serving God or living closer to the world? Why do we seem to find it so hard to just live for the Lord? What could we do if we truly lived the life He desires for us to live? Our pastor preached about turning the world upside down on Wednesday evening. He then talked about what it would take to make this happen. So what’s stopping you? What keeps you from spending that extra time in prayer? Are you truly just too busy to spend an extra 10 minutes in prayer? Is it that hard to put the phone down or turn off the tv for a few extra minutes and spend that time in prayer? What keeps you from sharing the Gospel? Are we too shy to even just share your own testimony with others and allow the Lord to use that? Is it the fear of them telling you that they don’t want to hear it that keeps you from sharing the Gospel? What about showing Christ to others? Is it that hard to walk the way the Lord leads us and would have us to walk? We can’t show Christ to others by straddling the line between God and the world. What is keeping you from turning the world upside down? You are the only one that can answer that. I will say that whatever excuses you want to offer up aren’t going to matter 100 years from now and those excuses aren’t going to hold up in eternity.

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
