Nov. 5 Devotion: The Importance of the Morning

The Importance Of The Morning

Psalm 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord ; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Most of us are creatures of habit. There are certain things we all like done a certain way or in a certain order. I’d guess most of us have a morning and or evening routine that we most generally stick to. My question today is how often does that morning routine start with God? We can have the best intentions to have a wonderful day each and every day. However, we have no idea what each day holds ahead of us. Therefore, the best thing we can do would be to start the day with God to help us be able to overcome and get through anything the day throws at us. If you think of a musician. They can have the best words on paper, and put it to the best music, but if they have an instrument that is out of tune it does them no good. It can ruin the best of songs having an instrument that is out of tune. The same thing can be said of us each day. Starting our day off with God can get our hearts and minds in tune with him. Then no matter what comes our way throughout the day we can just call upon God for him to help us get through it. Regardless of if it is in the Word of God or just in prayer the best thing we can do is start off our day in fellowship with the Lord. That time spent with Him could turn out to be beneficial for us later on, or even beneficial to someone around us throughout the day. It could be a verse that we read that we can use to be a light to help someone else through a hard time. I would say if we get halfway through the day and faced with something and that’s the first time that we call on God during the day, then we’ve got about things all wrong. Does your morning routine include God? Do you see the importance of starting off your day in fellowship with him?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
