Nov 9 Devotion: His Soul Hath Appetite!

Isa. 29:8- It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

Many people today live their lives in an endless cycle of ups and downs seeking peace and fulfilment that never seems to materialize. They’re looking for it in monetary gain, relationships, thrills, competitions, and even in religion. Far too many end up enslaved in miserable marriages, dead end jobs, void spiritual understanding, and unfortunately, substance abuse. I challenge you to gaze in people’s eyes and you’ll discover the starkness, sadness, and strife that engulfs them. I find so many hungering and so few feasting on the goodness that only Jesus provides! The text above reveals how so many are never fulfilled because their soul is neglected.

His Soul Hath Appetite!

*people are hungry for…

1. Forgiveness!

2. Fellowship!

*with…

a.) God

b.) God’s people

4. Fulfilment! (Satisfaction)

5. a Future!

**what are we to do?

B. be a Light to them

C. Lead them

D. Love them

May God help us to point people to Jesus so their soul’s hunger can be satisfied and thirst quenched!
