Oct. 13 Devotion: Mentions

Mentions

1 Thessalonians 1:2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

Have you ever given any thought to how often you might mention something in the course of your day? You might mention a hobby, a food, maybe even a person. Or it’s a phrase that you say over and over and don’t even think about it. If you don’t think you have a phrase you say often just listen to your kids. You’ll soon learn how often they will take something you say over and over and they also will soon begin to repeat it. You will find some form of this verse in Scriptures four times. Talking about making mention of someone in their prayers. In Philemon it even says always: Philemon 1:4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, How often can we say this to someone else we may be talking to? Hopefully if we tell someone that we will be praying for them we can go up to them the next time we see them and honestly say that we have been praying for them and mentioned them in our prayers. What about just in general? When was the last time we just prayed for someone in general just because we wanted to see the blessings of God on their lives or just prayed for God to strengthen them in case they were facing something that we aren’t aware of. We never know what someone could be up against and it could be our prayer that gets them through the storm. One of the greasy encouragements I believe is when someone tells you they’ve been praying for you! What do you mention most during the week? When you get to the end of the week could it be said of you that you mentioned others in prayer more than yourself?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
