Oct. 17 Devotion: Hallway of Pleasures

Hallway Of Pleasures

Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Use your imagination with me for just a moment. If you’ve ever stayed in a hotel you know you’re given a room key and number. You then proceed to that room and go in. Now imagine if instead of given a room number you’re just given a floor. You get to go through and open each door until you get to the room you want. Each room might have something tempting in, but you’re looking for the one that just has it all. One might have bigger tv, another more room, maybe a bigger bed. There are different things that entice each of us on a different level. That’s just how the devil will work in our lives. He will offer up a variety of things to us. He will do all he can to put something in front of us to trip is up and get us away from our walk with God. Too many times this comes by us opening too many doors so to speak. Sticking our toes into too many worldly things will eventually lead to our downfall. He knows how to trip us up:

2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

He knows some doors we might not open, but he also knows some we will take a peek into and it’s those that will lead us away from God. Be careful what doors you open this week. Watch out for those simple pleasures that we see no harm in now, but will lead us down a road we didn’t intend to be on.

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
