2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
The word “moved” in this verse is very interesting. It means to be carried or transported from one place to another. These “holy men” were “moved by the Holy Ghost” to write down God’s inspired word. They were transported from a human perspective to a divine perspective. It was necessary to be moved from one place to another so the desired purpose could be achieved. They had to be moved to get where they needed to go, which is the perfect will of God.
Let us apply this principle of moving to the way we live our lives. We will not be all we need to be or do all we need to do without being moved. There must be a transporting from the nominal to the exceptional, from the fleshly to the spiritual, from complacency to God-honoring activity. If we are going to make a difference in this generation, there must be a moving toward holiness, righteousness, and a commitment to the things of God.
The Bible says that Jesus was moved with compassion. (Matthew 9:36) He did not need to be more of what he was, for he is the perfect Son of God. What this is telling us is because of who he is, it moved him in the direction of doing what was needed to be done. He is our example. We need to be moved with compassion for the people need to see Christlikeness in action in us.
In these last days, let us be “moved” to do the will of God.
