Oct. 20 Devotion: A Good Defense

A Good Defense

Deuteronomy 4:1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.

How many of these phrases have you ever heard? You do you. You do what you think is right. Well, if you think that’s right then go ahead. You could reach the conclusion that we live in a day and age where everyone seems to have their own truth. However, I’d argue this has been the case for much longer. God wasn’t removed from so many areas in this world overnight. I wonder when prayer was taken out of school how many stood by and just thought they couldn’t change anything, or if that’s the way it has to be then so be it. As many local government buildings removed the Ten Commandments how many just thought there was nothing they could do. Look at how many today are standing up for evil. When will we begin to stand and defend the truth? We’ve told ourselves for so long that it’s just easier to stay quiet and not ruffle feathers. Did you know there are people setting in jail still from January 6 that their own friends and colleagues won’t speak out on their behalf because they are afraid of what the government may do to them? What happened to defending the truth? What happened to making a stand for the truth and the Word of God? He gives us instructions on how to live and conduct our lives. He gives us truths in His Word on how we are to live and truths about what’s going on in this world. When the world wants to blaspheme His name and His Word why do we so easily stand by and let it happen? Think of the things that people could say that we would immediately respond to. If they were to make fun of our family, we would defend our family, and rightfully so. They poke fun at our favorite sports team, we would want to set them straight. Yet, too often there are times people will go against the things in the Bible and we won’t say a word. They will take things out of context, or even just say something that is flat out false, and we won’t defend the truth. If we want to see revival, we want to see change take place, then it’s time for Christian to stand up, speak out, and defend the truths in God’s Word!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
