Oct. 22 Devotion: Be Their Faith

Be Their Faith

Luke 5:19-20 [19] And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. [20] And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

We’ve heard the saying that if you die with 5 true friends then you are truly blessed. Most people have a lot of acquaintances, co-workers, and even family. How many true friends do we have? Someone we can always count on being there for us. Think of the man here in our text verse. The men thought enough of him to bring him in his bed to get to Jesus. When they couldn’t get inside through the door then they made a way through the roof. They knew what Jesus could do for him if they could just get him to Jesus. Then is verse 20 Jesus goes beyond what they were thinking. They could see Jesus healing the man, but the Bible says in vs. 20 “Man, thy sins are forgive thee.” He says this after it says he saw “their faith.” What if we were their faith? How can we be their faith? Do you have someone you’re praying for? Don’t stop praying now! Have faith that God is going to answer that prayer! They might need healing. Just keep praying. It could be they are lost. Just keep praying. Possibly they are wayward. Just keep praying. Some are just struggling. Just keep praying. Sometimes we might have to put feet on those prayers. We might need to lend a hand to help, lend a ride to get someone to church, make sure to invite them, lend a shoulder to cry on, etc. There are times that people around us can just be struggling and their faith could be waning. Help them, encourage them, be their faith. Show them that God is still there, that he loves them, and that they can always count on Him. Help someone around you today. Be their faith and be the one they can count on when they desperately need it.

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
