Oct.29 Devotion: You Can Find It

You Can Find It

Matthew 26:14-16 [14] Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, [15] And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. [16] And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

As we approach the holiday season you are probably about to see a mad rush to find certain gifts. We’ve seen it in the past. The “hot toy” of the year is hard to find. You’ll see parents drive all over trying to make sure their child is happy! What about on a more personal level? Have you ever wanted to make a big purchase and you might seek out good reviews to show spouse or someone else to help convince them you should get it. There could be plenty of bad reviews also, but you are set out to find the positive. It’s that way with a lot of things in the world today. You typically can find whatever information you set out to find. We have a tendency to even reach out to people who we think will support us or in the decisions we make. If we are looking to switch jobs per se we will explain to someone all the reasons why we should change and then wait on them to reaffirm that decision to us. Rarely do we just seek their opinion. Think about Judas in our text verses. It says in vs. 16 that he sought opportunity to betray Jesus. He went seeking someone to sell Jesus out to. As soon as he knew he was going to get that thirty pieces of silver he sought that chance to sell him out. Are we the same way when it comes to our Christian walk? Ever sought spiritual advice and go to the one you know that would support you in a decision. You could feel an emotional decision to switch churches possibly. Not based on spiritual guidance, but just a feeling. We won’t go to the one that might discourage us from making a bad decision because that’s not what we are looking for. We will once again explain why we think it’s the right thing to do and then wait on the affirmation. Have you ever had a bad day and just really not feel like going to church. The slightest sign of a headache or something we will just stay home cause we feel bad. We live in a day where we can typically find whatever we have set out to look for. Are you looking for ways to walk on your own or are you seeking ways to walk with Christ everyday?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
