Oct. 8 Devotion: Tough Conversations

Tough Conversations

Mark 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

We were afforded the opportunity a few weeks ago in our evening service to have a flower service. We were given the opportunity to take other is a flower and tell them how much they mean to us and how much we appreciate them being in our lives. That is a conversation that we don’t do enough, and it can be easy to have. However, what about some of those tough conversations. It talks about in our text if we were to have ought against anyone, how we are to forgive them the way the Lord has forgiven us. It’s not a prayer to say that we will forgive them, and yet hold a grudge. That’s not forgiveness. There are times it might require us to have a conversation with someone. Those are conversations we don’t often like to have. Getting right with someone can be very difficult. Getting right with God, and confessing sins, can be a tough conversation to have. However, when we are willing to have those conversations it can lead to freedom on the other side so to speak. When we have certain things in our hearts it keeps us from being where God wants us to be. You can see people live miserable lives just because their pride won’t allow them to have some of those difficult conversations with others. Keeping things bottled up can turn us into a person we thought we would never become. It can lead us to lie, we can become disrespectful, just lead a miserable life. When it comes to God we must grasp the fact that He loves us! He desires to have that personal relationship with us. It leads to a much more joyful life when you are right with God. When it comes down to another person here we need to realize we can’t control how they may react. However, if something is making us miserable then it does us no good to continue to dwell on these things and allow it to fester. I have found there are times when the other person didn’t even realize there was an issue and instead it’s something we are making a bigger deal out of in our mind. Seek God’s guidance on how to approach and have that conversation with someone else. Having those conversations can help us mentally and spiritually.

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
