Oct. 9 Devotion: God As Your Witness

God As Your Witness

Philippians 1:8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

Ever seen those news stories where they are asking for any witnesses to come forward? Might have been a crime committed or possibly a car accident of some sort. They are looking for witnesses to piece together what possibly might’ve happened. In terms of a crime they might need witnesses to identify who committed the crime. Think of what Paul is telling the church at Phillipi here. As God as his record or God as his witness he has longed after them in the affection of Jesus. All this points to the fact that God could confirm Paul’s thoughts and affection to the church here. What if God could be called as your witness? Would He confirm that you’ve been praying for that one that you told you’d pray for them? Would He confirm that you have a burden and been praying for lost souls? When authorities are looking for a witness there’s a possibility nobody seen the crime or accident. We, however, never have that issue. God is everywhere. He knows any and everything we do. If you were on trial today or was to be questioned for anything: would you want the Lord to called as a witness for you?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
