Ps. 9:17– The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
It’s election time again and our nation is seeing some of the best economic growth in decades. America is seeing prosperity and success across every key factor in what determines our status on the global stage. Yet with all this prosperity, we are a nation at war within our own borders. The divide is as great as it has ever been between the right and the left in our country. Why the disparity? Especially when the engine of the economy is running in the fast lane? The answer lies in the verse above… America has forgotten God! Yes, the nation which arose and bloomed out of a wilderness founded on the oracle of the Word of God has forgotten the very God who birthed her! This leads me to ask…
Why Would a Nation Forget God?
*America has forgotten God because we…
1. are at Peace! (no War, visible enemy)
2. are Prosperous!
3. have become Passive! (complacent)
*we’ve take for granted our…
a.) Rights
b.) Voice
c.) Freedoms
d.) Heritage
4. are given to Pleasures! (there’s pleasure in sin for a season)
5. are victims of Prevarication! (deception, blindness)
**nations aren’t the only ones forgetting God, Christians are as well! For too long we’ve buried our head in the sand and have not been accountable for getting the Gospel out and evangelizing our country. We’ve allowed the fowls of hell to feast on our neighbours and blind folks to the truth of salvation and patriotism! Christians themselves no longer seek God for true revival and the repentance of sinners. We’re too focused on living prosperously as well!
Rev. 3:15-17– I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Oh may we allow God to revive us so we can lead our nation back to God; one convert at a time! –Pastor Doug Foster
