Without Grudging
1 Peter 4:9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
Ever had your boss tell you to do something and you do it but you are mumbling under your breath how ridiculous you think it might be? If you’re a parent you know how it can get under your skin when your kid talks back to you or does something you ask but has an attitude the entire time they are doing it. Is that ever your attitude when it comes to the things of God? Ever had a bad day and go to church cause “you had to?” Has pastor ever asked for volunteers for something and you just volunteered because you felt you had to? What about what the text verse today addresses? Ever tell someone you’ll pray for them, but not truly mean it? You just do it because felt like you had to? Ever stopped to talk to someone at church even though you didn’t want to? When we aren’t careful we get into a routine and we can find ourselves doing things grudgingly instead of out of love for others or love if God the way it should be. How often are we a cheerful giver? Not just in tithes and offerings, but even in giving of ourselves?
2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
When we look at how frustrating and aggravating this world can be it can be easy to fall into a poor mindset and find ourselves doing things out of necessity or grudgingly. Don’t fall into that trap and instead do things out of love because of how good God has been to us.
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
