No We Without You
Daniel 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
If you go to Daniel and read the verses preceding our text you will find that these three names were mentioned in not bowing down to the golden image. We then get to verse 16 and we find their response after they’ve been given another opportunity. All three answered: “we”. Had any one of the three decided to not trust God and instead bow to the golden image then that little word “we” would not have worked. How interested are you in the “we”? How many things can you say that goes on that you can include yourself and say we? If someone was to ask can you say we go out on visitation? Can you say we support missionaries? Have you ever heard someone say that “we” did something and someone asks if they have a mouse in their pocket? They might’ve been present, but took no part in the physical part of doing something. Being a member of church means taking part. It could be something physical you can do or even a prayer warrior. Regardless, if you desire to use we then it takes participation. Think also of the rich man who died and wakes up in hell. He wants someone sent to his brothers so they also don’t spend eternity in hell with him. He doesn’t want to look at his brothers in hell and have to say we will spend eternity here. Do you share the Gospel with others and tell them “we” can go to heaven together? Are you content with the fact that you are going if you’re saved so you aren’t concerned with the we part of the equation? We are a society that gets overly obsessed with “I”. We’ve heard it said many times. “My right to my claim to myself.” We are so worried about self promotion or what “I’ve” done. Imagine the effect we could have on the world if we more interested in what we could do instead of just the selfish “I”. Which do you use more: They or we?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
