Sept. 25 Devotion: Desire To Learn

Desire To Learn

John 3:1-2 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: [2] The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

We have some neighbors that moved in years ago. They have a son who has autism. When they moved in they said he was all into cars and vehicles. They said so don’t be surprised if you get 100 questions about my vehicle. He just desired to learn more. Think of Nicodemus. He’s a Pharisee which is more than likely why he came by night. He thought of Jesus as a teacher sent by God. He also had questions. He showed up with a desire to learn more about who Christ was. Do we have that same desire? How much more do we desire to learn? I had someone say the other day they had been to every one of her brothers football games for 2 years and she still knows nothing about it. I said she needed to watch the game with someone who would explain it to her as it went along. Someone made the comment that the explanation would go in one ear and out the other. It’s easy to think how in the world could you go to every game like that and still know nothing more. How much more do you know about Jesus over 2 years ago? Not talking about stuff you’ve heard in preaching or teaching, but what have you set out on your own in a desire to learn more? If we have a desire to learn more about Him and get in His Word to seek Him then we will learn more and grow closer to Him. When we have a desire for worldly things we will do what it takes to learn, grow, or get better at something. Do we have the same desire and put forth the same effort in learning more about Christ?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
