What Lights Your Fire?
Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
We know the situation here. Jeremiah has reached the point he is ready to quit. He’s just had it so to speak. Yet he tells us the Word was in is heart so much he just could not quit. I heard this statement last night and God really impressed it on my heart: What lights your fire? What gets you fired up? What causes you to shout? What causes you to get all worked up? Is it God? Is it a hobby or sports? Do you cheer louder at a ballgame than you’d shout at church? Do you look more forward to the season premier of your new show than you do the opportunity to go to church? I’d say every church service is a “premier”. If we come expecting the same thing then that’s all we will get. We should come expecting to see something new each time. There are a lot of things that excite us and might get us emotional. However, if something else besides the things of God truly lights our fire we might need to do some checking up.
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
