Sept. 6 Devotion: The Particulars

The Particulars

Psalm 139:2-3

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. [3] Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

How well do you know those most important to you? Their favorite color, favorite foods, favorite hobbies, etc. These things are things that you might know, but it’s also possible that some of their “fringe” friends may know as well. Those people they might not hang out with all the time but just enough they can know a few things about them. Now what about their eye color, the sound of their walk, their smell. Those things that you have to be a little closer to someone to know. These are those fine detail or particulars that only those closest to us tend to know.

Think about what David is saying here about the Lord. God knows everything about us. No matter where we are, what we do, where we go, God already knows. All the way down to the very particular hairs on our head:

Matthew 10:30

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

That means all the bad things we do and thoughts we have God knows all about them. Yes that should convict us and cause us to desire to be better. It should also cause us to shout!

We serve a living Savior that does know everything about us, all the good and bad, and still loves us.

We serve a living Savior that does know everything about us, all the good and bad, and still provides for us.

We serve a living Savior that does know everything about us, all the good and bad, and still watches over us.

We serve a living Savior that does know everything about us, all the good and bad, and still blesses us!!

I could go on and on about how good a God we serve! We should be grateful that while He knows all the particulars about us He still loves us!

God bless you today!
