Sept. 8 Devotion: One Body

One Body

Romans 12:4-5 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: [5] So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

You’ll find so many going crazy for their teams over the last week and starting this week as football season has started. Living around here so much of the talk is about when Joe Burrow for the Bengals will get his new contract. While having a great QB is important, he also has to have people to throw to as well as a defense to stop the other team. When the team breaks the bank to pay one or two players that team never seems to be as good as it was at one point because they can’t pay everyone. However, every position is important for those people to do their jobs if the team is to win. The Bengals lost their first game last season due to an injury to a player at a position that most don’t even think about. Once the long snapper got hurt, it lead to missed extra points and missed field goals. It didn’t matter who the QB was when something simple as an extra point couldn’t be executed properly. It takes each person being the best they can be for the team to succeed. What about us as church members? How invested are we in our church? As a member of our local church we each have a job we can or should be doing. We can’t all be the pastor, can’t all be a teacher, but everything done is equal importance. If we truly want to see our church make a difference in our community it’s going to take each of us doing our part. Not only doing our part, but doing it the best we can. We will give our best on the job, be the best parent or spouse as we can, etc. All those things have a rightful place and we should do our best at, but what about the things we do for our church? Are we the best church member we can be? As a local church we are all dependent upon each other doing what they can do. We’ve heard our pastor say the world has yet to see what God could do with one church completely sold out to God. Are you the one holding your church back from that? Are you being the best church member you can be? It doesn’t take some supernatural ability. Just requires us to do what God would have us to do and doing it to the best of our ability!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
