Sept. 9 Devotion: It’s Going To Be Too Late

It’s Going To Be Too Late

1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

We were blessed to be able to go recently on a vacation up to Boston and then the Cape Cod area. As we were flying out I seen a gentleman show up late and miss his flight. Then while in Cape Cod area we went on a boat trip out in a bay to see some lighthouses we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to see. A couple days later we went on a whale watching trip. Both of those trips cost money and have specific instructions on making sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure time. It amazed me how many people show up at last minute. This left open the possibility that you could miss your trip and it was completely non-refundable. Unfortunately, I believe people think they can just argue their way out of anything and get their way. There’s a day coming that’s not going to be the case. We use our text verse so often to tell people Jesus is coming again and they better be born again before it’s too late. Christian friend the same applies to our lives. He’s coming soon. Are you where you need to be in your relationship with Him? Are you doing what you CAN for Him? I wonder how often we do a little something and just hope that’s enough to get by, but we don’t do what we truly can. We are going to be judged for what we’ve done for Him. What rewards are you going to have to lay at His feel? We’ve heard our pastor say that in 100 years all that will matter is what you’ve done for Him. Whenever that time comes around that you stand before Him it’s going to be too late. We won’t have any excuses to stand on. We can’t blame our lack of obedience on anyone or anything else. The people I mentioned on my trip all knew what time they had to be there yet they were still late. We have no idea when our number may be up, so today is the day to get started. Waiting till tomorrow could just be too late!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
